Find ilo IP address

use tcpdump or wireshark to find the IP address of the ilo interface. no instuctions here, you should know how to do this.

Find the SW2 switch

SW2 is a physical switch on the motherboard of the server. It is used to reset the ilo password.

The photo below shows the location of the SW2 switch on a HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server. The white rectangle indicates the location of the SW2 switch.

Reset the ilo password

Use a simcard pin or a toothpick to switch the ilo Security Override Switch (pin 1) to the On position. Be careful not to break the switch.

Power on the server and enter the iLO without the password.

You may can be entered the iLO without the password. The login page may show a warning message that the security has been overridden.

  • Change the password in the iLO settings and other settings any way you want.

  • Power off the server and switch the ilo Security Override Switch (pin 1) back to the Off position.

  • Power on the server and enter the iLO with the new password.
